Jamisyn's Dream: From Pocket Change to Lasting Change
Playing football, doing math, and learning about God through Bible stories, such as the story of Jonah, are just a few of 7-year-old Jamisyn Fleming’s favorite things. Added to that list, though, is something you don’t find on the list of most kids his age. In his short seven years, Jamisyn has also enjoyed helping other kids, and he’s done that by raising awareness and gifts totaling over $7,000 for children in need!
Jesus Loves the Little Children
Chinese, American, Brazilian, Australian, Korean . . . these nationalities are representative of just some of the children and families we have been able to minister to this year through Pathways Professional Counseling.
Shining in the Concrete Jungle
Twon Mai was a neglected 9-year old when the Lord directed his path to the Children’s Homes. He came from a broken home with a mentally unstable mother who separated from his dad before Twon ever had any real memories with him. His mother moved them from California to Mobile on a Greyhound bus where they at first found shelter in a motel for a few days
Superhero in the Storm
Greg and Christy O’Connor had been fostering sister and brother, Kaya and Jaxson, for about a year when the 2014 ice storm hit the Birmingham area. The kids were just 4 and 5 years old then, and the O’Connor’s home was at least the second foster home they had lived in.
Keeping House & Homes
After 45 years of wear and tear from hundreds of children literally coming through our doors, our Decatur homes are receiving some much-needed TLC in the form of new cabinets, countertops, and paint in our kitchen/dining areas!
Award-Winning Series
Many of you may know that our Pathways professional counselors help children, families, and individuals seek solutions to their problems through direct counseling services offered all across Alabama. But what you may not know, is that they also help people throughout the year through a series of articles written in partnership with The Alabama Baptist newspaper.
Remembering Diane Miller
How do you begin to convey the impact of a life well lived? I don’t know that it’s truly, fully possible, but I do believe it is good to try. From all I’ve come to learn about Diane Miller in just a few, short months, the impression I have is that she was vivacious—one of those “larger than life” personalities you only encounter from time to time.
