Privacy Page

At Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, we are committed to sharing the real impact of our work while protecting the privacy and dignity of those we serve. To do this, we sometimes use representative stories—narratives that reflect real experiences but do not identify specific individuals.

What is a representative story?

A representative story is a carefully crafted account that combines details from multiple real cases. They allow us to illustrate the challenges, victories, and life-changing support that children and families experience through our programs—without compromising anyone’s confidentiality.

Why do we use representative stories?

All of the children and families we serve have experienced difficult circumstances. Sharing their full, identifiable stories, even with permission, could put their privacy, safety, or emotional well-being at risk. By using representative stories, we can:

  • Honor the people we serve—their stories belong to them, and we never want to use their experiences for our own advantage.

  • Respect and protect privacy—especially for children in foster care.

  • Share meaningful stories that accurately reflect the needs we address.

  • Ensure authenticity without exposing sensitive personal details.

  • Follow legal and ethical guidelines that prevent us from sharing identifiable information about those in our care.

Are these stories true?

Yes! Every story we share is rooted in real-life experiences. While names and details are adjusted or blended, the emotions, challenges, and outcomes represent the reality of the families we serve.

By using representative stories, we honor the trust of those in our care while continuing to inspire generosity and advocacy from our kind supporters. Thank you for standing with us to make a difference!
