“If God has given me this gift of compassion, why am I so emotionally weak? Why can’t I do this hard thing?” Julie asked herself this after a social worker leaned across her dining room table and told her and her husband that foster parenting might not be the best fit for them because of her tender heart. During each meeting with the social worker, she cried hearing the difficult situations these children came from.

Quanicia went from surviving day-to-day to having stability for her family. During her time in the year-long program, you equipped her with life-changing tools for success. Your gifts provided her with steady housing, healing through counseling, financial planning, and more.

Tyler* came into foster care at 3 years old not knowing how to speak—he didn’t know how to say his own name. He was angry, confused, and often became physically violent…

“I just wanted to do something exciting that would help other people,” Max Said.

When Patrick and Heather first opened their home to sweet two-year-old Jonah,* they wanted to provide a safe, secure home for him. Although hesitant to communicate with his biological parents, Heather decided to start sending letters to Jonah’s mom in his backpack when he went on supervised visits. Heather wasn’t sure if his mom got them or even if she wanted to read them, but she had faith that God would use them somehow.

When Evan first entered our care, he was placed in a separate home from his sister because that was the only space available at the time. Even though they were taken from a dangerous environment and placed in safe homes, it was still difficult for Evan to be apart from Emma.

“When it comes to serving at Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, we see it as a local mission opportunity to be able to help serve a group of kids, and now foster parents, in our backyard. We can love and encourage children in the gospel.”

You can imagine how exhausting it would be to do everything you can to care for your kids, and it still not seem like enough.

At almost three years old, Tyler* didn’t know how to speak when he entered foster care. Because of you, he received the support he needed to learn how to speak. Now, he’s a chatty and thriving 4-year-old.

Keeping sibling groups together is essential because it gives foster kids a sense of security when their world feels out of control. We want to keep families together.

In 2019, when the Mann family discovered their homestead had suffered a decade or two of neglect, they repurchased it and lovingly restored and gifted it to our ministry in order to bless generations to come.

It doesn’t take a lot to make a big difference. You may be surprised how small amounts given consistently over time can change lives. Our monthly Hero Partners have a major impact on ministry programs, providing for hurting children and families in our state.

Ben* and his brother came to live in our campus home in Dothan from an extremely difficult home environment. In that time, the boys found safety and never had to worry if there would be food available or clothes and shoes that fit.

In 2016, we met a kind and hopeful single mom named Madilyn and her son, Joseph. The Lord led them to our Family Care home in Alabaster after a season of homelessness, and the wonderful impact it had on them then is still apparent in their lives today.

Four churches across the state share about their VBS this summer and how their kids learned about, and were able to support, children served through ABCH.

This spring for their annual RED Day serve effort, a group of nearly 40 Keller Williams Metro South agents from the Alabaster area and many of their vendors came together and served moms and children in our Alabaster Family Care home. The difference they made is both immediate and long-lasting.

Brandon and Mary Quince Norris have served as ABCH Foster Parents since 2015. In that time, they’ve provided a loving, Christ-centered home for 13 different foster children. Now they have taken another step in their fostering journey in becoming our first ABCH Campus Foster Care parents.
