Rachel Burden is a mom, grandmother, and active church member. For almost 20 years, she has served in ministry at our Mobile location, blessing countless children and families who have been in our care.

When you make a gift to ABCH, there is the option to make a gift in memory of someone who has passed away and have an acknowledgement card sent to their family. It’s a beautiful, generous way to honor a friend or loved one’s memory while investing in the lives of others. This thoughtful gesture a loved one shared in memory of Audrey Deaver’s son was a sweet blessing that eventually led her to become a Hero Partner.

Quanicia graduated from our Gardendale Family Care program in August 2018. Before moving out, she wrote a letter to future Family Care moms to encourage them along their program journeys. Now two and a half years later, we were excited to be able to catch up with her and hear how she and her daughter, Briella, have been doing since we last spoke.

The impact of “Brother” Leon Zalenski’s 40 years of involvement with and advocacy for our ministry is immeasurable, and his Kingdom impact has already touched generations. At age 87, Leon has been a monthly donor, a “Hero Partner”, since before we used that term to describe our regular monthly donors. He has also been very involved as a volunteer at our Gardendale home for years.

Life in our campus homes across the state has been full of activity! We hope you’ll enjoy reading about how children are being encouraged and are growing — things you’ve helped make possible through your generous giving so far in 2021.

At the first informational meeting about fostering that Jon and Mandy Hartman went to, they thought maybe they were there to just check it out and be able to offer help to their friends who were fostering. But they left that night, each feeling God's call, and began fostering with us in 2013. Read more about their foster care journey.

2020 brought many changes for all of us. At ABCH, we saw significant change among our Development team, as the Lord moved among His servants, and in the process, brought many new faces to our ABCH family.

In the midst of a chaotic year, your generosity provided stability for the children and families in our care.

For Mike and Lindsey and Sarah and Landon, God brought two families together who had each experienced hurts of their own, and who each found hope, healing, and a new sense of family during their foster care journey.

Tim and Jennifer Hurd have been married for nearly 20 years. As the proud parents of five, the Hurds have experienced growth in their hearts and home through the ministry of foster care.

Last August, we shared a letter from a mom named Tasha who had completed our Family Care program. In it, she shared with us how she has seen the Lord work in her life throughout her journey to start over. Here is an update from her, one year later.

Teens in our care in Dothan were able to participate in a few service projects. These projects not only impacted others in their community, but it impacted our kids as well!
