An Amazing Journey

Serving on the Greens
There are many things that make this tournament and church group special. For the people of Fairview, it’s more than just about raising money through a golf tournament. Because they live so close to our campus, they’re able to take an active part in the life of the campus.

Wrapping Around Families: Church and Counseling Support
Every Wednesday night, families bustle in from their cars and scatter across various buildings to get to their respective classes on the campus of The Church at Brook Hills. For those tucked away in Modular 16, something really special happens. Foster families across Birmingham receive support and counsel here, and for many, this turns the course of a child’s, and their family’s, direction.
Breaking Ground on Hope
Mothers who come into Family Care are given the tools to rebuild their lives in a safe and healthy space during this transitional time.
All in the Family: A New Day
This past fall, we saw two journeys end and two new ones begin. After 31 years in ministry with ABCH, former Area Director for Northeast Alabama Ted Embry, and wife Nora, felt God’s call leading them into retirement.
Crossing the Tracks: A Life Forever Changed
Don Eades was an 8-year-old ABCH “Home Boy” who lived at our home for boys in Eastlake, and then in our Gardendale home, now present-day Family Care home. Life there in the 70s was, in his words, a wonderful and blessed time. He has never forgotten the providence of his time with us, and he loves to tell others about it . . .

Jamisyn's Dream: From Pocket Change to Lasting Change
Playing football, doing math, and learning about God through Bible stories, such as the story of Jonah, are just a few of 7-year-old Jamisyn Fleming’s favorite things. Added to that list, though, is something you don’t find on the list of most kids his age. In his short seven years, Jamisyn has also enjoyed helping other kids, and he’s done that by raising awareness and gifts totaling over $7,000 for children in need!
Jesus Loves the Little Children
Chinese, American, Brazilian, Australian, Korean . . . these nationalities are representative of just some of the children and families we have been able to minister to this year through Pathways Professional Counseling.
Shining in the Concrete Jungle
Twon Mai was a neglected 9-year old when the Lord directed his path to the Children’s Homes. He came from a broken home with a mentally unstable mother who separated from his dad before Twon ever had any real memories with him. His mother moved them from California to Mobile on a Greyhound bus where they at first found shelter in a motel for a few days
Superhero in the Storm
Greg and Christy O’Connor had been fostering sister and brother, Kaya and Jaxson, for about a year when the 2014 ice storm hit the Birmingham area. The kids were just 4 and 5 years old then, and the O’Connor’s home was at least the second foster home they had lived in.
Keeping House & Homes
After 45 years of wear and tear from hundreds of children literally coming through our doors, our Decatur homes are receiving some much-needed TLC in the form of new cabinets, countertops, and paint in our kitchen/dining areas!
