Growing Our Foster Care Ministry

Vision 140

ABCH will celebrate its 140th birthday in 2031. Our vision for that year and for following years is to:

  • Serve 1,000 foster children

  • See 250 biological families reunified

  • See 50 children being adopted into their forever home

  • See 50 professions of faith annually

As one united team across the state, we will strive more and more to become a place, “Where Christ creates healing for kids and families from hard places.” Our ministry goal is to reflect the model of Jesus, consistently demonstrating compassion, focus on the whole person, and deliberate action to alleviate suffering. It is our hope that God will be pleased with our efforts in His name. (Mark 2:1–12)

To help us achieve these life-changing goals for 2031 and beyond, we will need to make strategic investments across the state. Contact us below to learn more about some of the ideas shared below and/or other ways you can invest to make a difference for Alabama’s children and families.

$175,000/ANNUALLY HUNTSVILLE AND TUSCALOOSA

Huntsville is now the largest city in Alabama, and we have just begun serving children and families in Tuscaloosa. As we continue establishing ministry centers in these cities to serve those populations more effectively, it will require more funds to support full-time Social Workers who may each carry an annual case load of up to 24 children.

$100,000–$200,000 DECATUR AND MOBILE

Our local Ministry Center locations is where all counseling, social work, and foster parent training occurs. These spaces need to be warm, inviting, and safe for kids and families from hard places. While currently being well-kept, they are dated, and in need of new, family-friendly upgrades.

$200,000 Campus Foster Care Conversion Projects (Decatur)

We continue our process of converting several of our campus residential cottages in Decatur to Campus Foster Care homes. In these homes, a foster family lives out their dream of enjoying a larger home to foster more children while gaining all the resources of ABCH on campus. More funds are needed to support major upgrades in some of these fifty-year-old homes.

There are approximately 6,000 children in Alabama’s foster care system. Our hope is to reach even more of these precious children in 2022, and you can be a part of a child’s life too!
