On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, people from around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give to causes they believe in on #GivingTuesday.

How can you be involved?

Here is how you can participate:

  • On November 28: be on the lookout for status updates, tweets, and emails throughout the day. Don't forget to share them with your own networks! When you make your gift, encourage others to give as well by sharing your OWN photo (like this one below) with a house drawn on your hand. Spread the word!

  • Make your gift online, or take advantage of our new "text-to-give" option for donating. Simply text the message "@ABCH #GT2017" to the number 52014, and then follow a few short steps to complete your gift transaction.
  • Be sure to use hashtag #GivingTuesday and specifically, #GT2017 and #aplacetocallhome in your posts!

Thank you for your faithful prayer support and financial support of our ministry as we seek to continue to care for children and families in need across Alabama. The great thing about #GivingTuesday is that it is less about the amount each individual gives and more about having many individuals giving on the same day.

Additional Background

Taking its cue from two of the most recognizable and deeply discounted shopping days of the holiday season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is dedicated to giving to causes people believe in. It is all about helping non-profits do their work, especially as they approach the end of the year. In recent years, #GivingTuesday has become the official kickoff date for the holiday giving season.

Historically, this season has led many groups to see significant increases in the generosity of all kinds of people. It makes sense, then, for charitable organizations like Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries (ABCH) to participate in #GivingTuesday to give our friends and donors yet another opportunity to come together and express their financial support for this vital ministry that stretches across our state.

We are so very thankful that for over 125 years, we have had such strong support from churches and individuals who love what we do and desire to help the most vulnerable in our society. We hope #GivingTuesday will give you another way to join with us and to invite others to do the same.
