Transitions

Nov 07, 2011

What are some of the transitions that have occurred in your life recently? Were they transitions that brought happiness? Or were they transitions that produced sorrow? Regardless, transitions are an important time to re-evaluate our purpose.

Looking back over my nearly two decades of service with this remarkable ministry, there have been many transitions both for the ministry and its people. But all have been used by God to influence the children and families we serve.

So, how is God molding you through your transitions? Are you conforming to his image? Are you taking steps to be a good steward of the time, talents, treasures and truth that God has entrusted to you?

And just moments after writing the first three paragraphs of this message, I received a call from my wife. A dear relative of mine was involved in a serious traffic accident and is reported to be brain dead. My heart aches for his immediate family. Then, I question. Was he prepared? Was he in a right relationship with Jesus Christ? Were his personal, legal and financial affairs in order? I pray the answers to these questions are “Yes.” If not, I wonder if his children will be caused more pain because a current will or estate plan was not in place with no power of attorney? However, my final question is directed to you, the reader.

If death occurred tonight are legal documents in place to distribute the property God entrusted to you? Or, will the courts decide and take a sizable portion of what you have left behind to administer your estate?

At lunchtime today, a smiling pastor visited our office. He was the trusted friend of a woman who is now receiving her eternal reward. He had the privilege of presenting our president with a check from the estate of his friend to help those we serve. This woman’s memory will live on in the lives of children transitioning from helplessness to wholeness found only in Jesus Christ.
