Our Seasons of Blessings
Nov 07, 2011
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s are significant times of celebration in our culture. They are especially meaningful for Christians and our Children’s Homes family as we look forward to celebrating these special occasions.
THANKSGIVING seems to have avoided much of the commercialization that has become involved with many holidays, and I am thankful for that. I am looking forward to opportunities to express my gratitude for family and friends. As I have for many, many years, I will also use this time to express thankfulness to God for His manifold blessings on my life, family, and our Children’s Homes family.
On behalf of our Children’s Homes family, I want to take this opportunity to express to you, our friends and supporters, our gratitude for your gifts, encouragement, and your prayers.
CHRISTMAS celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the great love of God, and His provision for forgiveness, grace, and mercy for all who by faith believe in His Son. The gifts of the wise men serve as the basis for what has become greatly commercialized; however, expressions of giving and generosity are important.
I challenge all of our staff and volunteers to help teach the children in our care the true reason for our celebrations as they enjoy many expressions of love.
NEW YEAR’S is an excellent time for reflection and evaluation. It is also a great time for planning. It has been said that he who aims at nothing usually hits it. In this ministry we pray and ask God’s direction and then make plans accordingly.
In my personal life, 2012 is going to be a time of significant change. For almost 40 years I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve through the Children’s Homes Ministries. It has been a great honor! As the author of Ecclesiastes wrote, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” It is now time for me to step aside and let others lead, so I will retire January 31, 2012. I am so grateful for the prayers and encouragement that so many of you have demonstrated in my life.
I believe very strongly in the ministry of the Children’s Homes and I will continue to support every effort with my prayers and contributions. I encourage you to continue to join me in supporting this great endeavor to serve children and families in a way that will bring great glory to God.
I wish for you a happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year!
Paul Miller,
Children’s Homes President/CEO
