Alicia Finds School Success Through Children's Homes

No one wants to be the “new kid.” Especially a 9-year-old girl.
When Alicia came to us, she had already lived in multiple foster homes and attended just as many schools.
No friends. . .no stability. . .no love. . .no parents. . .no place to call home. Alicia’s young life had been filled with hurt and her future didn’t look much brighter! Can you imagine the struggles of being the “new girl” in school every year?
Her grades and her ability to get along with other kids at school greatly suffered. Thankfully, Alicia’s next stop was Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries.
Alicia shares, “ABCH has given me a permanent home with house parents who love and care for me. They provided food and clothes for me when I had little to none. They have allowed me to attain the very best education that I never thought I would EVER get. They have taught me to take NOTHING for granted and that everything I have is a gift from God.”
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Alicia’s life was changed. For the first time in her life she had a loving home and parents. But even more importantly, she knew God loved her and had a plan for her life.
Statistics point to the cruel reality. Had Alicia not come to ABCH, she probably would have dropped out of school and started down a dangerous path.
Bursting with pride Alicia now shares, “I plan to graduate from college so that other kids in the ABCH can see that it can happen for them, too. I want to be the one kid that shows them that I made it and they can, too.”
Alicia is a great example of how God’s love and your gifts can truly change a child’s life.
