Rod MarshallEd. S., LPC, NCC, RPT-S, BCPCCPresident-elect of ABCHVP, Counseling and Director, Pathways Professional Counseling

Rod Marshall was elected Nov. 11, 2011, to succeed current ABCH President/CEO Paul Miller. Rod will begin his presidential duties effective Feb. 1, 2011.

Rod has been with Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries since 1995, overseeing Pathways Professional Counseling, our counseling ministry to children, adults, couples and families.
He is available to lead workshops on a variety of topics related to mental health, families and children. Rod is an experienced presenter whose sense of humor and laid back presentation style keeps him in demand. He has presented throughout the southeast, at professional conferences, at workshops and retreats. He has also presented internationally in Spain and Honduras (though he does not speak Spanish!) He has also enjoyed the privilege of preaching in churches in Alabama, Florida, and Illinois.
 
Rod has been working in the mental health field for more than 20 years in diverse settings, including hospitals, residential treatment settings, community mental health agencies, therapeutic foster care and private practice. For much of his career, he has specialized in working with children and families. He is also an adjunct instructor in the counselor education program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
 
He is a licensed professional counselor, a national certified counselor, a registered play therapist supervisor and a board certified professional Christian counselor.
 
Rod has been married since 1988 and is the proud father of two young adult children. He and his family are members of Shades Crest Baptist Church, Birmingham, Ala., where he serves as a deacon.
 
Rod earned his BA from Samford University in religion and human relations. He has both an MA and an Ed S in agency counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has done additional post-graduate academic work at Mississippi State University and at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He is currently a student at Regent University, where he is working toward his Ph D in counselor education and supervision.
 
Rod enjoys riding his motorcycle and is a published author and photographer. He also enjoys spending time with his family and extended family and visiting his hometown of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
