qzfzvgu@nopubzr.betMichael Smith has served as Area Director for Northeastern Alabama with Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries since 2006. He works to maintain a strong residential childcare program while developing foster care and family care programs for the region.
He is available to speak to churches and groups on topics related to child welfare, program development, and organizational change.
Michael recently completed his Ph.D. in management with a concentration in leadership and organizational change at Walden University. He also holds a master of business administration, master of social work and bachelor of social work. He is also a licensed certified social worker and holds a Private Independent Practitioner Certificate with endorsements in clinical social work, social work administration, social work research, social casework, and community organization. He has served as an item writer for the social work licensure examinations for the Association of Social Work Boards since 2003.
Michael and his wife, Lisa, have two sons. They are active members of First Baptist Church, Decatur, Ala. He enjoys being involved in local volunteer activities that have an impact on young lives, such as Parent Teacher Association and youth sports.
